### Internal and External SEO <a href="#internal-and-external-seo" id="internal-and-external-seo"></a>

The practice of Search Engine Optimisation can be broadly broken down into two categories:

* On-page SEO (or, internal SEO)
* Off-page SEO (or, external SEO)

*On-page* SEO refers to number of factors that are within your control as a site owner. They typically revolve around optimising the content on your site so that it can be easily indexed by search engines and to help users get the best experience possible, thereby increasing interaction with your site.

*Off-page* SEO refers to a whole world of circumstances, behaviours and factors that are *beyond the scope of your site*. That's not to say there is nothing you can do to promote external SEO, it's just that it's nothing much to do with your actual site. Here are some examples:

* increasing the number of backlinks to your site from quality external sites
* increasing interactions in social media
* signing up for, maintaining, and using a 'Google Webmaster' account

Obviously, off-page SEO is beyond the scope of Pakk as a system. We encourage you to learn everything you can about it, and actively seek to improve your site's external SEO value. If you have any doubts, talk to us.

So, that leaves on-page SEO - this is where Pakk steps in. Pakk has a whole host of on-page SEO features built right into the platform, some of which require some input from you, whereas others just tick away in the background.
