# Overrides

### Override Website Target Margin <a href="#override-website-target-margin" id="override-website-target-margin"></a>

On `Setup > Websites > Website > General Settings > Prices` you can override ‘default target margin’ for that Website. If you enter a percentage here, it will override the account-level setting when calculating margins, but only for site-specific calculations.

### Supplier Overrides <a href="#supplier-overrides" id="supplier-overrides"></a>

Often, a group of products will have a common variable cost basis according to the supplier from which you buy. This can be captured by supplier-level overrides of both target margin and variable costs.

You’ll find the same variable cost matrix as you saw in account settings. Here you can individually override account defaults for any of the variable cost elements. Check the ‘override’ tickbox for any cost element and enter new values. Any line you leave unchecked will simply use the account default setting.

Any changes you make at supplier level will affect all products that have that supplier as the designated 'Preferred Supplier'.

### Product Overrides <a href="#product-overrides" id="product-overrides"></a>

Both ‘target margin’ and all ‘variable costs’ can be overriden at product level. Choose a product and go to `Sales > Gross Margin`.

Just as for supplier overrides, you’ll find the same variable cost matrix as you saw in account settings. Here you can individually override account defaults for any of the variable cost elements. Check the ‘override’ tickbox for any cost element and enter new values. Any line you leave unchecked will simply use the account default setting (or supplier-level setting, if the account default has been overriden).

You can also override ‘target margin’ if your margin expectations for this product are different from others.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.pakk.io/products-and-inventory/gross-margin-calculation-and-control/overrides.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
