Composite Products

This is not strictly a pricing technique, but composite products can be used to achieve something very similar to bulk or pack discounts.

Basically, composite products are "made out of other products". On orders, composites are transformed into their component members, along with any discount adjustment lines necessary so that the net price matches the advertised price of the composite. Here's a worked example:

  • You create Composite A which consists of 5 units of Stockable A

  • The price of Stockable A is 3 GBP

  • The price of Composite A is set at 12 GBP

  • Therefore, this represents an effective discount on the composite of 3 GBP (5 x 3 = 15 - 12 = 3)

  • When transformed on an order, a discount adjustment line will be created in the sum of 3 GBP so that the net total is 12 GBP (the quoted price of the composite)

If you need to create quantity discounts for different bulk amounts of a product, you can therefore use Composite Products, varying the number of units and the net price to achieve the discount you are looking for.
